My Sweet Amber, you won't read this for quite a while, for you are only ten and some of what will be in here is not for ten-year-olds to be exposed to. Of course, if you went to public school, some of it would be in the curriculum! Thank God you don't.
You are a wonderful granddaughter, and I had so hoped that you and your sister and cousins (and your new brother or sister who will be here in July) would grow up in the America I grew up in and to a slightly lesser extent that your mom and aunts grew up in. It was quite something. I'm not sure there has ever been a country on earth that was more beloved--with good reason--by her citizens than ours. We came from such amazing circumstances and our founders were such amazing people. They came here determined to be FREE, and they were willing to give up everything, even their lives, to secure that freedom for future generations. And by 2009, it was all lost, and their sacrifice was for naught.
I can tell you, Darling, that it was a wonderful country to grow up in. My grandparents and parents lived through the Depression and came out just as strong, determined, and grateful--yes, grateful--as they were before it hit. No one demanded that the government take over their lives and fix everything. What the government did try was a smaller version of what this disaster of a government is doing now--grow the government and spend a fortune, which prolonged the depression. In our case, I fear we will never get out from under the weight of this gigantic, utterly wasteful disgrace being perpetrated on us and you. And your children and probably your grandchildren.
What made our country so great, Amber, was both our love of freedom and our Judeo-Christian values. It used to be that the majority of the country embraced and tried to live those values. But as Dennis Prager pointed out this week, Judeo-Christian Conservative values go against human nature. Liberal values cater to the baser aspects of that nature. Liberals do not wish to grow up, be responsible, be independent. They don't want the stress of taking care of themselves and working hard to obtain whatever they may want or need in their lives. The CERTAINLY don't want to follow the Commandments. That requires effort and moral fiber, and a belief in God and that man is supposed to aspire to something higher than that baser nature of theirs.
They think big, bureaucratic government should be their daddy. Fix me, save me, feed me, shelter me, give me, GIVE ME. Oh, and do it all on someone ELSE'S dime. As you know, God expects His people to work and take care of themselves and their families and to also help those in need. As Conservatives, we wish to decide for ourselves which charities and causes we will support, according to our abilities and preferences. We value freedom over government control and intervention. We prefer to keep more of the money we earn, and spend it as we please. FREEDOM. Once the government becomes as big as it is now--and it is getting bigger--it is a recipe for disaster. The astonishing thing about this is that history has shown what a disaster big government, big spending, big taxation and big, bloated, bureacrats with an insatiable thirst to spend other people's money is. But too many people don't bother to learn that history, nor to investigate BEFORE the deed is done what these parasites are up to. I realize that our history is not taught in public school anymore, except in rare instances. That's no excuse. People need to be on top of what their government is trying to do to them, and stop it. Half the country didn't do that, and we now have an unspeakably incompetent, immoral, immature, narcissist as president and a congress full of arrogant, ignorant, self-serving dimwits. And they are all, apparently, Marxists to boot. Half of America is taking this country to its demise.
But I'll tell you Amber, it was a grand country to live in, back then, and so many, many people looked to us as a haven from the tyranny and stifling of freedom that they experienced in their home countries, and they came here (they used to come legally) to live the American dream along with us. Your grandfather was one of them. He came at 18, looked around and loved what he saw. So he worked, learned English, put himself through college and became a productive, hard-working AMERICAN. Our country has always welcomed immigrants who wished to be AMERICANS. And in the old days, they all did. Now, many of them are illegal and couldn't care less about becoming Americans. Like the leftists who court them, they want the government to be their daddy too. Give me, give me, give me. And the lefties will do it--out of our pockets of course--because that is how they buy votes. When they aren't ACORNING around committing voter fraud. Yes, it is a sad, sad day for the United States of America. And for me, because I wanted so much for you to have what I had.
Back in the day, moms took care of their own kids. Like yours does! Grandmas helped, like I do. Aunts too. Family was mom and dad and kids. No one would have imagined that someday the left would push to destroy that family unit and turn it into something deviant and pathetic. Two men or two women should marry each other? Right. The left wants to blur the line between men and women to the point of essentially obliterating it, just so some freak can go on Oprah and claim to be a "pregnant man." Of course my Amber knows better. Men cannot be pregnant, ever, but they CAN be freaks. However, in the past that was unacceptable and frowned upon by society. Now it is cause for celebration on the part of the fellow freaks who are so warmly embraced by our truly disgraceful mainstream media.
So, Darling, as I apologized to your great-grandfather not long ago on this blog, I must now apologize to you. In a way, that's so much worse. My grandpa is gone and at peace, and if there is any justice he is unable to see what has become of his beloved country from his comfy cloud in Heaven. I hope he can see you, for that would bring him such joy. He had brown eyes too, and I can just see him gazing into yours and smiling. He'd have loved you so much, as he did me. But he would be so, so sad at this latest blow to his country. He would wish for it to somehow turn around before it has the negative impact on you and your siblings and cousins that I am so afraid of.
I AM sorry, Amber. I wish I could have preserved my America for you. You have such a good heart and such a dear soul, and you have learned the real history of America and how the love of God can be pure joy in your life. You appreciate your country for what it was, and I am so sorry that it is no longer that way. Freedom has been throttled by these good-for-nothing democrats and turncoat republicans. They are beneath contempt, and I spit on them all, along with their America-hating, Muslim-loving "leader." You deserve so much better. In 2010, I'll do my best to get rid of these vermin, if we still have the power. We may not, and if we don't, I want you to know that it wasn't for lack of trying. Once a country's people decide to give up their freedom for (false) security, it is hard to go back. Hard to make adults out of overgrown crybabies. Hard to convince people, though it is as pure a truth as I know, that being GOOD, and being FREE, and being GRATEFUL, and working hard are the keys to contentment and happiness. I know you know it at ten far better than half the country ever will. We had the best country that has ever existed on this planet, and it didn't last nearly long enough. I hope you will pray for America, and for Israel, our only ally in the middle east and the foundation of our values and our faith. The left will also try to abandon Israel, and as it goes, so do we go.
Mind you, I am not giving up just yet. I will still pray that it isn't too late to save our country, but if it is, I also want you to know that in the greater scheme of things, you have been and will always be the joy of my life. You and the rest of my grandchildren are all gifts from God, as are your mothers and your grandfather. I am truly blessed, but I'm not naive enough to think that my government is not trying to ruin every single thing about America that was good and right. So once again Darlin,' sorry, God bless you and always remember that you are a good American, and THAT is something to treasure. Love, Gami
P.S. With the new health non-care plan, your Gami might just be a little too costly for the guv'mint to keep around, so you might also pray for my good health. If they have their way, I won't be able to be treated for ANYTHING more exotic than a cold. :) Chin up though Darlin,' I'm a pretty tough grandma with no plans for an untimely exit. Gotta be around to see these clowns get their comeuppance, which MY grandmother always promised would happen to swine. Love you!
